Ephemeral Arts Connection – Europe 2010

During the first days of the EAC 2010 we had in program some visits to prepare and help the creative work.

9/9/2010_ The first visit was to the city of Marsala. It started at the Stagnone in front of the famous saltworks. The second step of the visit was the Archeological Museum at the Baglio Anselmi where the participants had the possibility to see the Punic Ship  and  to know more about the many different civilizations that have left their signs in Marsla. Serena Del Puglia/Stardust* guided the visit explaining the history of Marsala and the influence of it in the contemporary society. Many inspirations have been taken by this first day visit

10/9/2010_The first “official” day of the workshop after the welcome of the Mayor and the introduction lectures the second part of the lecture by Giacomo Di Girolamo was at the Monumento ai Mille it was the first contact of the participants with the site of the EAC 2010 project.

11/9/2010_In the morning of  the second day happened the visit to Gibellina guided by Lucy Giuliano (Architect). The first step of the visit was the Cretto by Alberto Burri the biggest land art realized project in Europe. The second step was the fondazione Orestiadi Onlus where the important collection of mediterranean art (also contemporary) was very inspiring for the works. The thirst step was the Civic Museum of Contemporary Art in the New Gibellina very intresting for the collection of models, drawings and artworks related to the project of the New Gibellina by many important contemporary artist and architects. The visit ended with a visit to the main buildings and artworks to the New Gibellina.

13/9/2010_The last visit was to Giarre defined by Incompiuto Siciliano (guide of the visit) capital of the phenomenon of the Sicilian Incompletion (unfinished public buildings). Incompiuto Siciliano is a project by Alterazioni Video, Enrico Sgarbi and Claudia D’Aita and was selected to be part of  the 2010 Venice Biennale of Architecture. We visited the main unfinished buildings in Giarre as a part of the Tour at the Park of of the Incompletion. The Tour was realized for the first time during the Festival of the Sicilian Incompletion the 2,3, 4 of July 2010. This last visit was very inspiring for the creative work at the Monumento ai Mille and influenced the reflection around the continuity of the Ephemeral Arts Connection 2010 after the 10 days of the workshop.
